Director: Simon Stone
Starring: Paul Schneider, Miranda Otto, Geoffrey Rush, Sam Neill
Synopsis: When his father announces his upcoming wedding, Christian (Schneider) returns to his childhood home, only to encounter old friends and family who open old secrets that threaten the whole community.
Notes: I find it hypnotizing the way that this small logging town is captured. There’s a sense of foreboding gloom that it carries along with it and knowing that secrets are lying underneath only builds more atmosphere. Sam Neill and Geoffrey Rush are the two biggest names attached here, and it’s a downright pleasure to see them stretch their age-old acting abilities in a slow-burning community drama like this.
