Read the newest synopsis and reactions to Charlie Kaufman’s stop motion/live action blend “Anomalisa”

Charlie Kaufman

Drew McWeeny over at HitFlix just released his review of Charlie Kaufman’s newest feature film Anomalisa, which blends stop-motion animation and live-action, starring David Thewlis, Jennifer Jason Leigh, and Tom Noonan.

His review gives us the first peek at the film’s plot, as well as many of the ideas being explored here by Kaufman.

McWeeny writes:

“There are only three actors here. David Thewlis is Michael Stone, a businessman who specializes in lectures on customer service. He’s on the road to give a speech, and the film takes its time as he rides in from the Cleveland airport, checks into his hotel, settles into his room.

When he finally meets Lisa, he is amazed by her. She seems to have a real problem being comfortable in her own skin at first, and when Michael asks her to join him in his room, she is astounded.“

He goes on to describe some of the surreal features of this movie:

“Everyone else that Michael encounters is played by Tom Noonan, and I mean everyone.”
